Closing line value (CLV) is the difference between the price at which you placed a bet and the price at which that market closed. Beating the closing line consistently is the most reliable indicator that a bettor has a real edge, because closing prices are extremely efficient. Positive CLV over a large enough sample correlates strongly with positive ROI.
